Excel for Managers
This Excel for Managers micro-course will cover various Excel functions and is built around a ‘fictitious’ Moodle Report export. The functions to be covered can easily be transferred to whichever VLE (Virtual Learning Environment) your own college uses. No previous Excel experience is required, and the course is suitable for managers in all curriculum areas.

- Excel Cursors – recap / different devices
- Formulae intro – Structure
- BODMAS – explanation
- Asking questions of your data – Minimum / Maximum / Average / Count
- Formatting – Format Painter
- Flash Fill – email lists
- Sorting / Filtering
- Group / Ungroup
- Moodle Reports 1 – Conditional Formatting
- Moodle Reports 2 – Tasks Complete
- Moodle Reports 3 – Completion Progress / Combine Reports
We will be covering the above points in this short course, and will all be based around the starter file below. Your first job is to download the starter file and save it to your OneDrive ( or equivalent ).
Also – IMPORTANT!!! – please ensure you’re using the downloaded version of Excel ie not the online one. The online version doesn’t have all the functionality required.
